What you need

  • A TradingView account. JouView links to your exact TradingView username, so the journal follows the account you use on the chart.
  • A Google account to sign in to JouView. JouView doesn't ask for your Google or TradingView password.
  • No paid TradingView plan is needed for JouView itself. What TradingView shows you, such as charts and data, still follows your TradingView plan.
  • For broker sync: a broker connected in TradingView's trading panel. Manual and paper trades need no broker.

Broker sync: what it covers

If you trade through a broker connected in TradingView, JouView can add those trades to the journal. That includes TradingView's own Paper Trading account. The setting "Automatically add trades" in JouView's Settings decides what happens to each new broker trade:

  • Yes adds it.
  • Ask asks you first.
  • No ignores it.

Open broker trades show live profit on their row, with the stop and target taken from the broker's orders. When the position closes, the row closes too.

Limits

  • TradingView has to be open. Broker sync runs inside TradingView, so trades are recorded while TradingView is open with JouView loaded.
  • Only brokers connected in TradingView. JouView has no direct connection to any broker. Trades from a broker you don't use through TradingView can be added by hand, or imported by your AI assistant through the Journal API.
  • Not every broker has been tested. TradingView connects to many brokers, and JouView hasn't been tested with all of them. If a trade doesn't come through, tell us on Discord or at hello@jouview.com, with your broker's name.
  • No commissions or fees. JouView doesn't record trading costs, so statistics don't include them.

One change JouView can make at your broker. If you put a break-even line on a trade that came from your broker, JouView moves that position's stop-loss to the entry price when price reaches the line (auto break-even, Trader plan). It never opens or closes trades.

Your data

  • Stored in your account. Trades, notes, columns, styles, settings and uploaded snapshots are stored in your JouView account, not in the browser. That's why the same journal opens in the browser and in TradingView Desktop.
  • The extension only runs on TradingView. It works on tradingview.com pages and loads the journal from JouView's own servers.
  • Getting your data out. Trader includes Excel export. On every plan, an AI assistant or script you authorize can read your trades through the Journal API.
  • Deleting your data. Email hello@jouview.com to delete your account or journal data. The privacy policy has the details.

Questions

Compatibility questions

Does JouView work on a Mac?

Yes, in TradingView in Chrome, Edge or Firefox. The launcher for TradingView Desktop is Windows only.

Does JouView work in TradingView's mobile app?

No. TradingView's mobile apps can't load extensions, so JouView runs on desktop only.

Do I need a paid TradingView plan?

JouView doesn't require one. TradingView's own features and data still follow your TradingView plan.

Which brokers work with broker sync?

Broker sync works with trades placed through a broker connected in TradingView's trading panel, including TradingView Paper Trading. It hasn't been tested with every broker TradingView supports. If a trade from your broker doesn't come through, contact support with the broker's name.

Are commissions and fees included in the statistics?

No. JouView doesn't record trading costs. Statistics use each trade's profit as recorded. You can add your own Fees column and a formula for net results.

Can I use the same journal on the web and on TradingView Desktop?

Yes. The journal is stored in your JouView account, so it's the same in the browser extension and in the Windows desktop launcher.

Ready to install?

Get the extension for your browser, or the launcher for TradingView Desktop on Windows.
